Bedbugs

Bedbugs are any homeowners’ nightmare. As their name suggests these little creatures like to invade the one place we all feel the most comfortable. One does not need to know much about bedbugs to know they spread quickly and efficiently, seemingly hiding in plain sight and go unnoticed until it is too late. Their itchy, red bites appear all over the body and become an uncomfortable nuisance to all that are affected, loving all warm-blooded animals, with humans being at the top of their list.

BED BUG INFO

Bedbugs are small, flat, oval shaped insects. This shape and size allow them to fit into some of the smallest places of a home. They primarily live within the mattresses, box springs, bed frames and headboards of a home as this allows for the easiest access to humans. Soon, however, they may spread to other areas of the home, hiding in between floorboards, baseboards, picture frames, and even wallpaper. This allows them to spread throughout the home unnoticed. Bedbugs feed mainly at night, biting people while they are sleeping. Their bites are painless, but they result in itchy, red welts on the body. Bedbugs do not restrain to only biting a specific area of the body, they will bite any skin exposed while sleeping. This may lead people to believe that their welts are not the result of bedbugs, but are caused by mosquitoes or other insects.

BED BUGPREVENTION

Sure signs of a bedbug infestation are bloodstains on your sheets, or dark spots, this is bedbug excrement and egg shells. Checking your bed and surrounding area is a great place to begin if you suspect your house is at risk of bed bugs. Check all sheets, pillowcases and any other mattress covers of these signs. Check any books or telephones that may be kept on nightstands and be sure to check your closet as bedbugs will latch on to clothing. The best way to exterminate any bed bugs is with heat. Take all bedding and clothing and wash in hot water and then dry on the highest setting. Anything that cannot be placed in a washing machine, such as stuffed animals, shoes, etc., should be placed in the dryer on high for at least 30 minutes.

Remember, bedbugs are never the sign of a dirty home. They can appear in even the cleanest of homes throughout Vancouver. A bedbug infestation may seem overwhelming, but the highly skilled exterminators at Conquest Pest Control know every place these creatures can hide. Bedbug extermination can be tedious work, but our professionals have all the proper tools to ensure your home is completely clear.
