Bedbugs are small, flat, oval shaped insects. This shape and size allow them to fit into some of the smallest places of a home. They primarily live within the mattresses, box springs, bed frames and headboards of a home as this allows for the easiest access to humans. Soon, however, they may spread to other areas of the home, hiding in between floorboards, baseboards, picture frames, and even wallpaper. This allows them to spread throughout the home unnoticed. Bedbugs feed mainly at night, biting people while they are sleeping. Their bites are painless, but they result in itchy, red welts on the body. Bedbugs do not restrain to only biting a specific area of the body, they will bite any skin exposed while sleeping. This may lead people to believe that their welts are not the result of bedbugs, but are caused by mosquitoes or other insects.
